Evaluating the Impact of Urban Stormwater Runoff by Street Tree Canopy

نویسندگان

چکیده

Impervious area increase by urbanization and flash flood climate change lead to abrupt in urban stormwater, unlike the past. Currently, street trees play a significant role environmental improvement such as green space, heat reduction, air pollution reduction. In addition, transpiration from leaf canopy an water cycle significantly impacts decrease stormwater runoff. this study, canopy, earlier areas, was evaluated for impact of decreasing stormwater. US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) runoff, Geographic Information System (GIS) its input extraction, image process calculating were utilized. The simulation results indicated that runoff peak based on 20 frequency sewer facility standard 80 local river design decreased 1.08% 1.44%, respectively.

Evaluating the impact of a street barrier on urban crime.

OBJECTIVES Violence is a major urban public health problem in the United States. The impact of a physical barrier placed across a street in a public housing project to prevent street violence and drug activity was evaluated. METHODS Hartford Police Department data on violent and drug related crime incidence within the housing project containing the barrier were analyzed by use of a computeriz...

Bioretention column studies of phosphorus removal from urban stormwater runoff.

This study investigated the effectiveness of bioretention as a stormwater management practice using repetitive bioretention columns for phosphorus removal. Bioretention media, with a higher short-term phosphorus sorption capacity, retained more phosphorus from infiltrating runoff after 3 mg/L phosphorus loading. A surface mulch layer prevented clogging after repetitive total suspended solids in...

Urban Stormwater Runoff: A New Class of Environmental Flow Problem

Environmental flow assessment frameworks have begun to consider changes to flow regimes resulting from land-use change. Urban stormwater runoff, which degrades streams through altered volume, pattern and quality of flow, presents a problem that challenges dominant approaches to stormwater and water resource management, and to environmental flow assessment. We used evidence of ecological respons...

Coastal water quality impact of stormwater runoff from an urban watershed in southern California.

Field studies were conducted to assess the coastal water quality impact of stormwater runoff from the Santa Ana River, which drains a large urban watershed located in southern California. Stormwater runoff from the river leads to very poor surf zone water quality, with fecal indicator bacteria concentrations exceeding California ocean bathing water standards by up to 500%. However, cross-shore ...
